HUMAN/NATURE: Artists Respond To A Changing Planet
 (San Diego)
17 Aug 2008 - 1 Feb 2009
Deforestation, melting ice-caps and a depleting ozone layer; many environmental issues plague the world today. The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego welcomes Artists Respond to a Changing Planet, a collaborative project exploring relationships between fragile natural environments and humans.

The premise behind the project is to feature contemporary art that is both inspired and informed by various fragile natural environments. So in collaboration with MCASD and the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA), in partnership with the international conservation organisation RareA, eight artists: Mark Dion, Ann Hamilton, Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle, Marcos Ramírez ERRE, Rigo 23, Dario Robleto, Diana Thater and Xu Bing were sent to eight different UNESCO World Heritage sites. The art on exhibit is in their response to their travels to these threatened sites.
